Bodegas
Castell del Remei was designed and built in 1780 to make aged wines.
The winery consists of 6 adjoining buildings covering a total surface
area of 5,500 m2. All the buildings have a forged iron structure built
on stone with walls up to 60 cm thick. They are built partially underground
to avoid temperature variations.
Half of the winery is used for barrel
ageing and it currently holds about 1950 French and American oak barrels.
The remaining space is occupied by the vinification and wine dispatching
halls, offices, a shop and a multi-purpose room which regularly hosts
all types of cultural events, presentations, and occasional exhibitions
of works by different artists.
Since the winery is over two hundred years
old, conceived from its very beginnings to make
the best wines and it
is surrounded by vineyards, it can be considered as one of the most
traditional and representative château–type wineries in Spain. |
